SPOILERS ahead! Below I’ve put together the more important events that happened in The Walking Dead season 7 episode 9 “Rock in the Road” but you can read the full episode recap and watch the “Inside the Episode” video here.
In episode 709, it begins with Father Gabriel on guard, then it cuts to him in a panic, packing all of Alexandria’s food and getting into a car and driving off. If your TV’s brightness wasn’t set high, as mine wasn’t, then you probably missed a person appearing in the passenger seat, so it seems Gabriel is being forced to steal from Alexandria; Rick’s group meets with Gregory at the Hilltop but Gregory doesn’t want to fight the Saviors; residents from the Hilltop tell Rick’s group that they will help; Jesus takes Rick’s group to the Kingdom to meet King Ezekiel; the group is reunited with Morgan; Morgan tells Rick and Daryl that Carol left the Kingdom on her own; Ezekiel tells Rick and the group that he doesn’t want to fight the Saviors but will let Daryl stay at the Kingdom; there is tension between Rosita and Sasha; on the way back to Alexandria, the group finds a walker herd trap on the highway where there’s a steel cable with dynamite from one car to another car across the highway; the group gathers the dynamite and then Rick and Michonne drive the two cars with the cable towards the walker herd tearing apart walkers, and then escaping the area with the others.
Simon and a group of Saviors visit Alexandria to look for Daryl but don’t find him there; Aaron and Tobin tell Rick about the empty pantry and Gabriel missing; Rick finds Gabriel’s notebook with a page that says “BOAT” so they go back to where Rick and Aaron found supplies before; Rick’s group goes to where the boat was at and find some tracks, they are suddenly surrounded by a new group of people and Rick smiles.
LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT EPISODE
The next episode is #710, it’s named “New Best Friends” and the description from AMC.com says: “A mysterious community is discovered.” The episode description on TV.com says: “On the search for a missing Alexandrian, Rick and his group encounter a mysterious collective, whose inhabitants are unlike any they have come across.”
