The Walking Dead season 5 episode 8 “Coda” was the mid-season finale and wow what an episode. The storyline between Rick with his group and Dawn with her hospital group comes to an end in this sad shocking mid-season finale. The major points from this episode are (in order how they appeared in the episode):

• Rick runs after Lawson but Lawson has a lead so Rick gets in a police cruiser and chases him. On the PA system, Rick orders Lawson to stop but Lawson doesn’t stop. Rick hits Lawson, sending him flying and down onto the ground. They exchange some words, then Rick shoots him in the head.
• Father Gabriel goes to the school where Gareth’s group had Bob at, and sees Bob’s leg that they were feasting on. Walkers break through a door and follow him back to the church where Michonne and Carl save him.
• Abraham and his group return to the church. Michonne tells Abraham and his group about Rick and the others going to rescue Beth and Carol. They all get in the fire truck to help Rick and the others.
• At the hospital, officer O’Donnell overhears Dawn and Beth talking. It turns hostile shortly, Dawn pulls her gun on O’Donnell, O’Donnell attacks Dawn and Beth helps Dawn by pushing O’Donnell down the elevator shaft.
• Before the trade at the hospital goes down, Beth hides a pair of scissors in her arm cast.
• After the two groups exchange their “prisoners,” Dawn demands that Noah returns to her. Rick says no but Noah agrees to it to keep peace. Beth hugs Noah and Dawn says to Noah, “I knew you’d be back.” Beth goes up to Dawn and says, “I get it now.” Then Beth quickly stabs Dawn in the shoulder with her scissors. In reaction to getting stabbed, Dawn shoots Beth dead. Daryl then shoots Dawn dead.
• Abraham and the others show up at the hospital in the fire truck as Rick and his group exit the hospital. Daryl comes out of the hospital carrying Beth’s body and Maggie falls to the ground and breaks down crying.
• Morgan finds the church and inside he finds the map that Abraham gave to Rick before, which says, “Sorry I was an asshole. Come to Washington. The new world’s gonna need Rick Grimes.”
