The season 4 opener was a good season premiere even though it didn’t have all of the action that season 3’s first episode had.

This episode sets up different stories to play out during the season such as: Rick seeing a walker behind the fence with its eyes bleeding; the walkers don’t spread out much anymore around the prison fences; Rick and Carl see one of their pigs is lying motionless on the ground but they don’t check it for some reason; Glenn is scared of Maggie getting pregnant but she reassures him that she is not; Michonne returns from a search for the Governor without finding him and wants to check Macon County next; there is now a council formed of Hershel, Daryl, Glenn, Carol and Sasha; Rick meets a woman named Clara in the forest who turns out to be crazy and attacks Rick but fails, she had her dead husband’s head and has been feeding it, she eventually stabs herself and tells Rick that they can’t come back from what they’ve done in the past before dying; Carol is secretly teaching kids how to defend themselves with knives; Bob seems to possibly have had a drinking problem in the past; Beth’s boyfriend Zach dies during a supply run to a Big Spot store and she shows no emotion when Daryl tells her. The ending shows Patrick, a new kid on the show, feeling sick, coughing, and walking to the bathroom and turns on the shower, most likely trying to cool off from the fever it seemed he had. He collapses and next they show his body on the ground, bleeding from the eyes, ears and mouth as the walker outside Rick noticed, and his eyes open as he’s now a walker.
