Issue #9 starts with a new day and the group splits up in two groups to search the houses, while some stay in the house to watch the kids. Rick goes to the RV to grab a gun for Tyreese. On his way out of the RV, Rick sees the now-melted sign that says, “All Dead Do Not Enter” and starts running back to the house. Not waiting for the others, Donna decides to check out the inside of one of the houses. Donna turns back to tell Allen not to worry, then a zombie comes from behind, she turns around and sees it, she screams and gets bit on the side of her face. Two zombies are now on Donna and Tyreese holds back Allen as there’s nothing they can do. Rick yells to not shoot. Allen fires his gun which attracts zombies from around the neighborhood. Rick tells everyone that they have to leave, pointing at the zombies headed their way. Allen doesn’t want to go but Rick tells him they he has to, for his kids.
Tyreese and Carol go to the house to get the kids and tell everyone to get in the RV. Rick runs back to the house as everyone else gets in the RV. Tyreese finds Julie and Chris half-naked fooling around upstairs and tells them to get dressed. Rick finds Tyreese, Julie and Chris and they climb out the window and onto the roof. Dale drives the RV over to the house, Rick and the others jump onto the RV’s roof, and they drive off. In the RV, Allen tells his sons that their mom is dead.
They stop the RV to search for food. Rick, Tyreese and Carl go hunting. As they hunt, Rick says that he’s afraid that Allen may hurt himself, saying that Allen told him to leave him for dead back at those houses a week ago. So it’s been a week since they escaped “Wiltshire Estates”. Rick hears something and then Carl gets shot. A guy comes out from the forest and says that it was an accident. Rick goes at the man and puts his gun to the man’s head.
