Issue #7 starts with a flashback. Lori and Shane are on the highway talking. Lori is scared, worried about Rick as it’s been three weeks that he’s been in a coma, and she’s feeling so alone she tells Shane. Shane kisses Lori and then apologizes but Lori says it’s ok and she needs him. They then have sex on the side of the highway. Shane says that he wanted this for so long.
Back in the present, the group buries Shane. Lori is the last one at Shane’s grave and spits on the ground where he’s buried. Rick talks with Dale and Dale says that Shane was changing ever since Rick arrived and he thinks that Shane was in love with Lori. Rick says that he knows and it all makes sense now. Dale says that the group thinks that Rick should lead the group. Rick accepts and says that they’ll be moving camp tomorrow. Dale says that Andrea has been trying to keep track of the calendar and tomorrow is Christmas. Rick says not to tell anyone and that they’ll skip Christmas because of everything that’s going on.
The next day, the group packs up and takes off in Dale’s RV. It’s night and they come to a car blocking the road, which four of them go out and push it out of the way. Three human survivors see the RV and head over to them. Rick greets them as the man says his name is Tyreese and he’s with his daughter Julie and her boyfriend Chris. Rick gives them some food as they haven’t eaten in weeks. Tyreese tells his story about what they’ve been doing. Rick invites them to stay with the group, which Lori doesn’t like at all. Tyreese says thanks but they’ll sleep in the car.
The next day, Rick and Tyreese are sitting atop the RV exchanging stories. Rick tells him about Shane and how this world had changed him. Tyreese tells Rick how his daughter was almost raped by a nice older man, he got there just in time and beat on him and the man died. Tyreese says that this world has changed him too, as he doesn’t feel bad about killing the old man. Two roamers are nearby and Rick and Tyreese kill them with silent weapons (Rick with his hatchet and Tyreese with his hammer).
The group gets back on the road in the RV looking for a place. They come to another roadblock and clear the path. The group makes camp there and stays there for the night. They have a dinner, thanking Glenn for getting all of the canned goods. Tyreese and Carol flirt with each other. Lori is off to the side of the group while everyone eats. Rick gets up and goes over to her and asks if all is ok. Lori says no, she’s pregnant.
