Issue #6 starts with the group burying Amy. Jim is getting sicker by the hour. Shane and Rick are out hunting, with Carl tagging along to watch and learn. Shane loses his cool, saying it’s not his fault that Amy’s dead and that Jim is bit. Rick says it is because he told him this was going to happen and it’s not safe there anymore. The two argue while Carl runs back to the camp. Jim tells Donna that he wants the group to leave him somewhere and that maybe he’ll find his family when he comes back.
The next morning, Shane tells Rick they’re going hunting. Carl wants to come along but Rick says no because he needs to talk with Shane. Shane bursts out, punching Rick and yells that it wasn’t his fault. Lori comes over and scratches Shane’s face and says “Stay away from him you fucking lunatic!” Everyone in the camp is in shock watching what just happened. Shane storms off and Rick follows him.
Rick catches up to Shane in the woods and tries to talk to him. Shane loses it and pulls his shotgun on Rick, telling Rick to rip his heart out, that he is nothing now, he has nothing, no friends, family, respect, and no life. Shane says that everything was going good, she would have came around eventually, everything was perfect until Rick came back. Shane points his gun at Rick and is about to shoot but then Shane is shot in the neck by Carl. Shane falls to the ground and Carl runs over to Rick and Rick holds him.
