On his way to Atlanta, Rick’s police cruiser runs out of gas so he goes on foot. He finds a house, goes in and finds dead bodies of people who appeared to have committed suicide. He goes outside and finds a horse in the barn and a hatchet. He rides the horse and makes his way to Atlanta to look for his wife and son. On the way Rick talks to the horse about when Lori gave birth to Carl.
Rick reaches the city and soon finds himself swarmed by zombies. The horse gets nervous and knocks Rick off and onto the ground. The zombies start attacking the horse as Rick tries to get away from them. Rick heads down an alley and runs into another living human being, Glenn. Glenn tells Rick to follow him and to stop using the gun because of the noise. They go up a fire escape and jump across a roof top and go down another fire escape.
Rick follows Glenn to a camp that he’s staying at with more survivors. When they arrive at the camp Rick can’t believe it, his wife and son come running to him and they all hug.
