It all starts with Rick and Shane in a shootout with an escaped prisoner where Rick gets shot. Rick wakes up in a hospital from a coma. He gets up and finds a dead corpse and more “alive” dead in a room. They try to get at Rick but he manages to escape the hospital.
After leaving the hospital, Rick finds a bicycle and a moving dead person with bones view-able as the person is in half at the waist. He is shaken up by what he sees. He rides to his house to find his wife and kid but finds nothing there.
Outside of his house, Rick is hit from behind in the head with a shovel. A young boy calls for his dad and they realize Rick is alive and not a dead person. They bring him back to where they’re staying. Rick tells the man his story and the man tells Rick about what’s going on. Rick thinks his wife has probably gone to Atlanta to his in-laws. The man’s name is Morgan and his son’s name is Duane.
The three of them go to the police station that Rick works at. They grab guns and ammo. Rick takes a police car and Morgan takes one as well. Rick drives to where he found the person in half earlier and shoots them.
