Episode 8 starts with the Governor capturing Michonne and Hershel. Then he talks with his group about taking over the prison and keeping it for themselves, manipulating them. Lilly doesn’t like his plan but the rest seem to be ok with it. The Governor moves the camp to a nearby river so Lilly and Meghan can stay there while the rest of the group goes to the prison.

At the prison, Rick tells Daryl about him not bringing back Carol and he’s upset about it. Tyreese shows Rick and Daryl a dead rabbit that, which didn’t look like a rabbit, nailed to a board. All of a sudden a big blast is heard that shakes the prison. The Governor is outside on a tank with his group and he calls for Rick. With Lilly distracted by a walker trying to cross the river to where she and Meghan are at, Meghan is playing on some sand and a walker that was buried under the sand grabs her and bites her shoulder.

Rick eventually goes down to where the Governor and his group are at, but he stays inside the prison fence, as he brought out Hershel and Michonne. The Governor wants Rick and his group to leave the prison or he’s going to kill them. Rick tries to reason with him and even says that they can all live together so no one dies. The Governor grabs Michonne’s sword and swings it at Hershel’s neck. The mini-war begins with gunfire from both sides. Rick gets shot in the leg and gets behind the bus for cover. The Governor finishes chopping off Hershel’s head and then sees Lilly holding a dead Meghan. The Governor shoots Meghan so she doesn’t turn and then shouts “Kill them all.”

The tank goes through the prison fence and the Governor’s group moves toward the prison. Rick and the Governor start fighting each other. With all of the gunfire, walkers are coming towards the prison. Bob gets shot in the shoulder and is helped by Maggie and Sasha. The bus with Glenn and other survivors drives off. Tyreese is saved by Lizzie and he runs off with Lizzie and Mika. Maggie, Sasha and Bob see the bus drive off so they take off together.

The Governor is now winning the fight between him and Rick, with the Governor on top punching away at Rick. All of a sudden, a sword goes through the Governor’s chest, it’s Michonne, the Governor falls over and Michonne looks at him before leaving him to die.

Daryl puts a grenade in the tank’s barrel, Mitch exits the tank and it blows up. Daryl then shoots an arrow in Mitch’s chest, killing him. Beth and Daryl run off together.

Rick finds Carl and together they look for Judith but find her blood-soaked carrier and both break down in tears. Lilly finds the Governor on the ground dying, aims her gun and shoots him. Rick and Carl leave the prison and go into the forest with Rick telling Carl to not look back.
